The Purey Cust - Proposed Redevelopment

29 April 2011

Since the plans for the proposed redevelopment were submitted to York City Council on Tuesday 8th February there have been ongoing consultations, including an Open Viewing of Plans held in the Purey Cust Chambers on Wednesday 30th March. Local residents, proprietors of local businesses and other interested parties, including the Lord Mayor and the Dean of York Minster were invited to see the plans in detail in an informal setting. The occasion also gave those attending the opportunity to meet members of the development syndicate, construction team and the architects, and raise any concerns or queries. The event was a great success, and many of the guests, including a former matron of the Purey Cust, said how pleased they were to have had the opportunity to learn more about the development, and to meet the team behind the project.

The next key date was Tuesday 27th April, when the scheme was due to be considered by the York City Council Planning Committee, and I am delighted to report that the plans for the redevelopment have now been approved! The twelve week Judicial Review period has now commenced (a legal process whereby a third party can technically challenge the decision of the local planning authority). Work on site is currently scheduled to start in September, and we are hopeful that show units will be available in Spring 2012.

I will continue to keep all interested parties updated as the scheme progresses, and if you require any further information please do not hesitate to contact me.
